Who I Am In Christ

Updated: Jan 26, 2020

Often in our walk with the Lord the Holy Spirit convicts us concerning a “course correction” or gives us specific “direction” about what He wants us to do. It is exciting when this happens because we have a clear word from God. For the committed Christian this knowledge brings great excitement and joy. However, we are very much aware that when we are surrendered to Him and are obedient to His Word, Satan takes notice and attacks with fiery darts of discouragement, fear, doubt, and procrastination. He does not mind so much when we TALK about what we are going to do, but when we become intentional and take action steps, he steps up with an all out assault. A couple months ago, this was true for me. As I sat out on my front porch surrounded by the beautiful North Carolina Mountains, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and encouraged me to go through the book of Ephesians and Romans chapter 8 make a list from these Scriptures concerning who I am in Christ. About an hour later, I had a list of 47! As I read through the list I began to cry and praise the Lord for the GREAT THINGS He has done for me. Psalm 71:19 proclaims, “Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?” (NIV) Since then I have gone back to this list on numerous occasions and have been greatly blessed and encouraged by it. How about you? Are you feeling defeated and discouraged-- paralyzed to move forward with what you know God wants you to do? Take some time to read over this list and know that God has equipped you to do the work He has called you to do. Ephesians 6:10-13 says “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” Jennifer Hart
