OUR PASTOR
Pastor Russell received a Bachelor in Biblical Studies and a Master in Ministry from Piedmont Baptist College and Graduate School. In 2011, he had the distinct honor of receiving the Piedmont Baptist College and Graduate School Alumni Pastor of the Year Award. He began preaching in 1986 and took his first church in 1994. He served as Senior Pastor at Riverview Missionary Baptist Church for 17 years. He also worked as a part time chaplain for Hospice. He served at Friendship Baptist Church in Jefferson for 7 years. In the spring of 2019 the Lord led Pastor Russell to Laurel Knob Baptist Church.
Pastor Russell and his wife Jennifer have been married since 1989 and have two grown children, Caleb and Ali.

OUR CHURCH
Laurel Knob Baptist Church is a dynamic, welcoming body of believers located in the mountains of North Carolina near West Jefferson. We seek to be intentional in our faith that we might share the gospel with our community and the world. Missions, both at home and abroad, is a key component of our church culture. We are a part of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Ashe Baptist Association and adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
